Each live project that I’ve undertaken during this semester has allowed my to gain an insight into working within industry.
Coventry City of Culture Brief
- From this live project I learnt that as a designer, designing for an existing brand you might not always have complete creative freedom as you must work closely to the brand style guidelines in place.
- As this project was only a week long I also learnt about how projects can have a quick turn over date so you have to be efficient with your time.
Team Work
- I’ve learnt the skill of team work after working with two teams to come up with creative solutions.
- I’ve discovered that its not just about being good at producing work but also being able to communicate with others.
- During this semester we have been unable to communicate in person so I’ve also discovered helpful resources such as Miro which has made sharing work and visuals a lot easier and ensured we’re all in the loop.
Ambleside Avengers Brief
- This brief taught me that we must consider the clients budget for the production of the work, a consideration I would not usually have to think about as most of the work we produce at university is hypothetical.
- I also learnt that not all clients are designers so making assets user friendly is important.
- During this project we produced a booklet for print, I learnt about taking consideration of materials and how it will be handled as well as how it looks.
Women in Tech
- Learnt that getting feedback is the best way to move forward with a project and keeps you on track.
- I’ve learnt through working in a creative team that you need to make compromises to satisfy everyone’s viewpoint. As your ideal solution may not be the same as there’s.
